Tyson grew up on a farm outside Drumheller, AB, Canada. When he was 18, he moved to Calgary for school and hockey. He had the opportunity to travel to Sweden, where he played for two different clubs for five years.
In 2020, after retiring, Tyson started a company called ThirtyTwo Hockey Development as an on-ice skills coach and has grown immensely. He decided he would like to get into agency work to represent players he trains and new players.

Tyson joined the agency in August 2023 as a family advisor in North America.
