Quantum Welcomes Payge Pena

As the IIHF Women’s World Championship nears the Gold Medal Game, Quantum Hockey welcomes our first female client, Payge Pena. Payge was a stand-in for the Canadian Women’s National Team at this year’s tournament.

Originally from Maple Ridge, BC, Pena played four years at St. Cloud State University in the Women’s NCAA Division 1 program. In her final year at St. Cloud, Pena was top five in goals, assists, and ultimately, points. Notably, she was honored on the All-WCHA Academic team for all four years at St. Cloud.

Following St. Cloud, Payge went on to play one year in the South Coast Women’s Hockey League for the Meadow Ridge Moose. Payge lead the Moose in scoring with 23 goals in 19 games and an impressive 2.105 points per game. After one year with Meadow Ridge, Payge decided to coach in the Okanagan Hockey Group as an assistant coach.

We are excited as Payge continues her hockey career with Leksands IF in the SDHL, Sweden’s top women’s league. Payge is an excellent skater with a great shot who will contribute to an already great team.

I have had the privilege of working with Payge over the last few months. She exemplifies exactly what it means to be a QHA athlete. She is a hard worker, an incredible hockey player, who takes pride in her skating abilities and hockey IQ but is an even better person. She has worked so hard this summer in preparation for her first year of professional hockey. Putting in the time in the gym and on the ice. I am excited to see all her hard work pay off and transition into her game overseas in Sweden this year. I am extremely excited to have Payge join the QHA family and we wish her all the best this year in Leksand and we know she will have a great season!
